finally squared away.
Carré records, transcribes and summarizes. You leave with a structured summary, the decisions and the action items. And Bob, your assistant, answers from your own notes.
Free · Mac and Windows · your data stays on your machineFree · also in your browser · works on your phone
You can't keep up and write everything down at once. Carré listens, transcribes and summarizes while you stay in the conversation.
Where Carré goes further.
Transcription and summaries, everyone does those. Here's what the others don't offer.
Made to be re-read by everyone.
The summary shows in reading-comfort mode: a more legible font, increased spacing, contrast and keyboard navigation. Helpful with dyslexia or visual fatigue.
What the others overlook: a note-taking tool that's genuinely accessible.
Bob, in writing and by voice.
Ask your question in writing or out loud: Bob answers from your notes and cites his source. You can even connect your own assistant, Claude, ChatGPT or Mistral, to your notes.
A conversation, not just a chatbot: you can talk to him, and he stays grounded in you.
Listen to your notes as a podcast.
Turn a class or a meeting into a podcast, one or two voices, and download it to listen on your phone, while walking or commuting. Screen-free revision.
Rare among meeting tools: your notes become a real episode to listen to.

Documentation & permissions
Carré is in early access: it isn't signed by Apple or Microsoft yet. A few warnings appear on first launch, that's normal and harmless. Here's how to allow the app.
On Mac
- Unzip the downloaded file (double-click), then drag
Carre.appinto the Applications folder. - On first launch, macOS says the app can't be verified: go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to the bottom and click “Open Anyway”.
- If a message says “damaged”, open Terminal and paste:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Carre.app - Allow the microphone. To capture a video call, enable Carré in both settings “Screen Recording…” and “…system audio only”, then relaunch.
On Windows
- Unzip the downloaded file, then run the resulting
.exe: installation starts. - If the blue “Windows protected your PC” screen appears, click “More info” then “Run anyway”.
- Installation completes on its own and Carré launches.
- Allow the microphone if Windows asks. Video-call capture works natively.

Frequently asked questions
What we are asked most often, answered plainly.
What is Carré?
Carré is an application that records a meeting or a class, transcribes it, and writes a structured summary. Your notes, the transcript and the summary all stay in one place. It runs on Mac, on Windows and in the browser.
Is Carré free?
Yes, entirely, during early access. No credit card is asked for.
Is Carré suitable for someone deaf or hard of hearing?
Yes — that is one of its intended uses. Live captions show what is being said during the recording, in large type, and the summary is still made from the complete recording. Carré can also be used entirely from the keyboard, by voice, or with a screen reader, and offers a dyslexia-friendly typeface, enhanced contrast and a plain-language summary. None of these settings is on by default: you turn them on during the welcome or in the settings.
Does Carré work without an internet connection?
Recording works offline: it is kept on your machine and processed when the connection returns. On the desktop, a private mode transcribes entirely on your own computer: only the text, once identities have been replaced, is sent to the AI to write the summary, and nothing nominative is stored online.
How much data does Carré use?
One hour of recording means about 60 MB to upload. A data saver mode brings that down to around ten megabytes, for connections that are slow or paid by the megabyte, and leaves updates to download when you decide.
Which languages does Carré work in?
The transcript follows the language actually spoken during the session, including when several languages are mixed, and is chosen on the recording screen. The summary is written in your reading language, from thirteen on offer. The interface exists in French and English.
Are my recordings private?
Your notes belong to you and are never used to train any model. On the desktop, private mode keeps the transcript and the summary on your machine, without passing through our servers or the cloud.
Which devices does Carré run on?
On Mac (Apple Silicon) and on Windows as an installed application, and in the browser for everything else. Capturing the sound of a video call requires the desktop application.
Can I recover a recording if a note has disappeared?
Yes. The audio is kept on your computer alongside the note, and a note can be transcribed again from that recording — including in a different language if the first transcript got it wrong.
